Our School

School description

Elliminyt Primary School is located in the Elliminyt suburb of Colac, a rural city located in the foothills of the Otway Ranges and situated 75 kilometres from Geelong.  The school was established in 1878 and has undergone upgrades to its buildings in 2000 and a new second stage which has recently been opened.  Students are drawn from dairying, timber, trade and professional support industries.  The employment level of school families is high.  Students travel to school by bus, car and on foot.  The size of the school allows for a family-like atmosphere where students are known to all staff and parents feel welcome to be involved.

The school has extensive natural grounds and play equipment bordering faming and acre block housing.  Eight fully equipped classrooms are complimented by a full library, multi-purpose areas, Specialist Wing and large events centre shared by community groups.  The school has an increasing focus on areas and programs around the important area of sustainability and has finalised the completion of vegetable gardens and a designated building and sheltered work area.

Our Programs

The school maintains specialists in the areas of Physical Education, LOTE (Indonesian), Art, and Science.  A number of current programs identify smaller groups of students to take part in such things as environmental studies, vegetable/plant cultivation and landcare areas, sports and music.  The school is continuing to place a strong emphasis on building our technology hardware and staff expertise and have invested heavily in this area.
